watch this if you want to help save the planet and not die! (eco-friendly tips)

hey guys it's Healy sunny and today I'm gonna be filming a very important video if this is the first video that you're seeing of mine perfect it's probably gonna be one of the most informative videos on my channel that'll actually benefit you immensely if you do follow along and not just you but so many people around you and the planet that we're living on as you could tell from the title I'm gonna be giving you guys some tips on being more eco friendly especially now ever since our generation was little climate change has been a thing and global warming has been something that's been talked about but it's kind of just like a buzzing in the back of our heads like no one has prioritized it I feel like up until this point because it's no longer climate change it's a climate crisis like we have to look at it the way it actually is like all the videos that we see on Instagram and Facebook those aren't just like fictionalized and they're not put together to you know have an emotional video on your Facebook feed those are real things there is a cluster of plastic twice the size of America floating through the ocean yeah we're gonna have to sacrifice some things we're gonna have to give up a little bit of our comfort but that's gonna be so worth it at the end when we're not dying from overheating and freezing and going into a global Ice Age all these terrible things are approaching us so fast we are the last generation that can reverse the problem before it actually strikes us very hard it's so shocking how lightly we take the situation like I in no way want to come off as like a very aggressive like eco-friendly person because so often these type of people do come off very aggressive and they do have the right to be I just don't think it's like the right way to approach things especially if your goal is convincing a group of people that are kind of like refusing to give up some of the comfort from their life to save our planet they're just selfish so you can't really like win a conversation if you're attacking them they're gonna be even more stubborn so we have to take the problem kind of step by step and I think at this point we deserve any help we can get like if someone is willing to cut out five plastic water bottles from their life every week which is such a small percentage of their potential we should just take it it's better than them using five more plastic bottles every week I did a little bit of research myself and I put together a few things that you can change in your daily routine or add to your daily routine that will help the planet and this is going to be kind of like a tips video and then the video that I have after this is gonna be me practicing all of these very strictly for a week straight just to get myself into this and hopefully I can inspire other people too even if it's not doing exactly what I'm doing to do something different that they're not already the first thing that I recommend we all try to do is cut down on our plastic consumption now I have a few things here that I think you could easily purchase and get rid of so much plastic use in your day-to-day life so instead of going for plastic water bottles this is a tumbler this is by the brand Sheen so shout out to Sheehan by the way nothing in this video is sponsored I'm gonna be talking about brands but it's just because I support their purpose and think they can help our mutual purpose you can buy something like this off Amazon for literally three dollars and I actually have two I'm actually gonna be giving one of them away just make sure you're subscribed so I know that you are doing it through my channel and just leave a comment share your eco friendly tip whatever you want to do and what you can start doing is when you go to smoothie shops or earth cafe Starbucks a lot of the time if you bring your own cup they'll even give you a discount like 50 Cent's off which that will add up it'll be in your benefit in the long run and just hand them be like actually can you prove a smoothie and this just keep these in your car because I feel like you know sometimes you do random smoothie runs and if you have them in your house you might not like want to go to your house to pick this up just keep them in your car or in your bag whatever the case may be all I have to do is put in your dishwasher maybe buy a couple so that when one of them is in the dishwasher one of them will still be in your car you know it doesn't cost a lot but the money it does cost or just investments and the profit which is a BBS will live on the planet I think outweighs the cost of buying a tumbler which is like four dollars but that's just me and try to make this a daily habit like I promise you if you do for a week you're gonna pick up on it so fast you're not even gonna bind yourself like using plastic water bottles anymore that was my tip number one tip number two also goes hand-in-hand with that so this is a Beretta you don't have to go purchase this same exact brand I'll explain what it is to you really quick like I said instead of buying cases of water bottle which I'm guilty of doing like my family has always bought like cases of water bottles and then when I went off to college buying case of water balls got a lot more difficult because you're on the tenth floor of like this dorm building you don't get to go to the market very often your two girls in a room so you don't want to carry those water bottles like into your dorm like it was just a big hassle so you were like okay let's just buy a Brita and what a Brita does is you fill it up with tap water over here and there's a water filtration system in there and if you can see the little white tub it filters the water and it basically purifies your tap water and makes it drinkable these machines I think cost like $40 and you might be like oh my god $40 for a Brita like that's so much okay you're probably spending like $10 on a case of water this will last you a lot more than like four cases of water like you can use this for years all you have to do is just like switch out the filter every few months but I have that filter on for a while now and it's doing great I know Brita is a really good brand I'm sure they have alternatives that would be cheaper invest in one of these you're investing in your future in your children's future like these don't be cheap I'm sure that you've heard about plastic straws and how they affect hurdles and for me that's just personally so heartbreaking like you're gonna enjoy a smoothie or an iced coffee while a living animal is going to die guys we have to be a lot more aware and we have to care more we have to stop being so insensitive just cuz you don't physically see a turtle dying doesn't mean it's happening if you want to go on youtube and type in plastic straws and turtles and you will see so many videos all you have to do is go on Amazon and buy a metal straw this is literally like a dollar fifty by the way I'm gonna link a bunch of options for these down below so you can check these out and have direct access to all these products if you don't know how you're gonna be able to carry a metal straw like if this is uncomfortable for you to put in your pocket some of come like foldable and you can put them in a little case and attach it to your keys so you have them on you all the time if you think it's weird to take out your own straw at a restaurant and like you're embarrassed to do it in front of your friends like it's not gonna matter when you're all dying so just stop thinking about yourself for a second and that moment maybe think about like the remaining 50 years of your life again not trying to be aggressive just trying to make points I'm just gonna say it paper straws suck halfway through your drink they break they melt in your mouth like the paper comes off and instead of using a paper straw halfway through your smoothie and then growing tired of it and just going and asking for a plastic one just use a metal one to begin with these things are cheap you can buy them in packs keep them in your house again keep them in your car I think keeping them in your car is smart keep them in your bag the next tip that I have for you is for you to sell the clothes that you don't wear on like deep hop or Poshmark I have a deep hop I personally like using it a little bit better than Poshmark I think it's easier both work both are great options and my user name is Haley sunny this is what my store looks like I sell basically everything that I don't wear anymore blog clothes that you think are cute on my Instagram will probably end up on there so make sure you go follow me on there I have sold over 550 things on there imagine I sold everything for like $10 which I did some things I sold for literally like twenty thirty a hundred some things I sold for five dollars but I'm just gonna average it out to ten dollars five hundred fifty times ten is literally like five grand so you can make five grand go in a nice vacation or I don't know buy yourself a MacBook Air or buy yourself metal straws and a Brita that's five grand that you literally just made from selling clothes that you no longer wear that you would just be throwing away and that brings me to another point you can buy things on deep hop so you're buying already worn clothes use clothes you can thrift you can go to the flea market you're cutting down on your clothing consumption in a way so it's basically an exchange where you're getting new clothes and they're getting rid of clothes that they don't want and you're both helping the planet at the same time if you have clothes that are too old to be sold on deep hop or you just think they'll sell you can always donate a lot of people don't have any clothes so don't forget to donate and then if some things are just like too horrible obviously don't want to donate those things turn them into cleaning rags or like kitchen towels there's literally a way to make use out of anything I went online and looked up a few eco-friendly brands that I already have been using I just didn't know they were eco-friendly and I want to share them with you guys the first brand I have is called pharmacies spelled with an F they use honey and their products I personally use them they're great and eco-friendly products usually tend to be better for your skin as well just because if a company has that purpose they carry that purpose to every aspect of creating a product and that just makes me more comfortable knowing that someone with good intentions created a product that I'm using the second brand is called Tasha Harper and this one's a little bit more high-end I've used these products quite a bit and I really enjoy them a third brand that I have here is youth to the people and as you can tell literally all of these products look so aesthetically pleasing just because they look clean for example like this bottle is made out of glass not plastic you should also focus on maybe purchasing items with packaging that's glass or metal that doesn't mean that just because you're trying to be more eco-friendly go throw away everything you own that's plastic no that would go against your case it's fine you didn't know you don't have to be so harsh on yourself get through these products the next time that you're purchasing be more aware it doesn't mean you have to get rid of all the plastic water bottles that you have in your house right now and not drink those water bottles no you already have those water bottles in your house like just consume it make sure you recycle it at the end of it and for the next time just don't buy plastic water bottles this one's been around for a long time and because of that I hope you have been doing it all this time instead of using plastic bags when you go shopping or whatever trying to use reusable bags again I keep these in my car just because it's a lot more accessible speaking of cars even though we've been told ever since we were little that the majority of the carbon footprint left on earth is a responsibility of Transportation that's actually a myth I'll get to that at the end that doesn't mean that cars don't contribute to the carbon prynt obviously they do and I'm not gonna come on here and be like use the bus someone who hasn't used the bus for Poli 18 years of their life aren't gonna start using the bus now I'm not being a pessimist I'm just being realistic if uber is a big part of your life you're probably gonna keep ubering but I think there's minor tweaks that you can add to your routine without completely giving up that will still be beneficial to this planet okay I'm going on the uber app right now and I'm gonna put the growth if I were to virtually go right now by myself it would be ten dollars and twenty-nine cents if I were to pool it would be eight dollars and 86 cents so you're saving two dollars basically uber pool is when one over picks up multiple people along the way that are going to the same destination or destinations close to each other so it's kind of like public transportation but limited to like obviously for people another thing you can do let's say you're going to a party and me and my friends do this all the time instead of each of us taking separate ubers to the party since we all kind of live close to each other will order one uber and have that uber pick up all our friends on the way so we're taking one car to our destination and when you split the cost of the ride which you can do on your phone automatically there's a little button that says split these are such basic things but I feel like so many people don't know these things literally we each end up paying like a dollar fifty do it same with going to school if you guys are all going to the same school and you live all along the way instead of each of youth driving your own car to school pick up your friends on the way maybe another day they'll drive and pick you up it's like kind of a balance I'm not gonna be yelling at you for not taking the bus obviously that would be a better option but there are also things that you can do without giving a hundred percent of your habits and your comfortability dental hygiene toms is a really good natural toothpaste brand before it used to be like natural toothpaste we're very limited you could probably only get them at like natural food stores now they're so widespread I think Tom's has sold it like literally every supermarket it's fluoride free so it doesn't have harsh chemicals it was just better for yourself we strive to maximize recycled content and recycle ability of our packaging Tom's is great and then for toothbrushes plastic toothbrush right now but I was talking to this about a friend and she said that she uses bamboo toothbrushes and I was like smart but then it got me thinking a little and I was like so what do I do with my plastic toothbrush that I already have what about plastic razors that I use pretty much all the time and I found this website called TerraCycle and it blew my mind that I hadn't known about this for a minute TerraCycle is basically this website and it's created by people who value recycling very highly and they collaborate with a bunch of brands so they have one with Colgate they have one with Gillette the razor company you can help them so easily all I have to do is collect extra toothbrushes that you no longer use razors that you're trying to get rid of and so right here but what I did was I saw that they were doing a campaign with Gillette I clicked on the campaign and they provided me with a shipping label and all I to do was print it out and on a box I'm just gonna put all my razors that I'm trying to get rid of you slap the shipping label on there they take care of shipping you don't have to pay anything like this is literally free and you ship it to them and they handle the rest they know exactly how to recycle certain products and they'll just do it for you all you have to do is provide them with actual things to be recycled and it makes you feel good about yourself because you know you did something on your end I'll link that website down below as well they also do these like beach cleanups just a bunch of campaigns maybe going on their website every now and then and seeing if there are new ways that you can help it's perfect let's get to the real deal here all these things I talked about are great and amazing and would help so much if we really want to get rid of this climate crisis we have to start getting rid of animal products in our diet now let me get started as children we were all raised to believe that leaving on the lights and transportation is this monster that contributes to the carbon footprint the most but the reality is that animal agriculture is a lot more responsible for this problem I think it's just difficult for us to draw a connection because when you think of carbon emission a lot of little kids will grow up thinking like it's the pollution that comes out of the exhaust pipe on the back of a car like it directly links to that well we're not directly taught is that there are huge factories where you normal agriculture that have so much more pollution coming out of their chimneys just because there's so many more of these factories what we don't realize is all these rainforests that we have to cut down so that we can grow food to feed the unnatural amount of animals that we have soulfully birth just so that they could be killed for the food and what we don't know is the amount of water it takes to grow and water these plants that we use as food for the animals for agriculture I'm gonna be throwing some numbers at you because sometimes we refuse to believe these things unless we have facts supporting them and I do I have my receipts don't worry if every American cut out one serving of chicken from their diet every week for a year it would cut down the same amount of carbon emission as taking five hundred thousand cars off the road it takes two thousand five hundred gallons of water to produce one pound of meat so that means that you would save more water not eating one pound of meat than you would not showering for six months but you know challenge where 10,000 people went vegan for one week and they realized that these people save 147 thousand kilograms of carbon emissions which is enough emission to go to the moon and back ten thousand people for one week one week so then I did some calculations so I looked it up and it's two hundred thirty eight thousand nine hundred miles to the moon so if it's to the moon and back that's four hundred seventy seven thousand eight hundred miles round-trip for the past five years after every single video I say I love you guys so much all the way to Pluto and back so I want to see how far our planet is from Pluto so it's four point sixty seven billion miles which is a lot farther than the moon I realized and since I say puto and back that's nine point thirty four billion miles so if it took ten thousand people to save another mission to fly to the moon and back how many people would it take to fly to Pluto and back and the number I got was 195 million four hundred seventy nine thousand two hundred eighty people that's a lot more people than I have right to me but then I did the math if we have eight billion people on this planet 195 million ish people is only 2.4 percent of the whole population so if two point four percent of the population went vegan for one week we would save enough emissions to go to Pluto and back guys do you realize what that is that could be huge and obviously a hundred ninety five million people are a lot of people but there's a million of us on this channel so if it took 10,000 people to go to the moon and back we have a million people on this channel so that would mean we could go to the moon and back 100 times if all of us went vegan for a week and I'm okay with that I'm not gonna go to Pluto and back for this video but I want to go to the moon and back 100 times with you guys so please do a few of the things that I talked about in this video that's just from going vegan for a week what I'm gonna do in my next video is I'm gonna try to go vegan for a week I'm scared I've tried it before it's so hard but I'm willing to give up some of my personal comfort if it means I'm gonna be able to be comfortable and so many more generations after me are gonna be able to be more comfortable because I was lucky enough to experience comfort in the first place just doesn't seem fair to me that someone comes onto this earth not having tasted that for like even a little they just come onto this planet and they're already suffering I love you guys so much all the way to the moon and back times a hundred times I believe in you stay tuned for my next video let's do this together and send me pictures if you do end up trying any of these things and I will see you guys next time bye bye

  1. tip 1: Don't use a metal straw and then use a plastic cup ๐Ÿ‘€, I've seen it before where a girl at my school was using a metal straw for her plastic Starbucks cup. It's like going vegan but then smoking crack, you might be doing good but your not making it any more effective by doing something twice as bad.

tip 2: Straws (even though it is the easiest thing to stop using) aren't the number one plastic in the ocean and especially isn't the only plastic that causes harm to turtles. There is actually more plastic grocery bags in the sea then straws and do the same or even more damage to animals because turtles mistake it for jelly fish and eat it, so if you care so much about the turtles, another pretty easy thing is to instead of using plastic grocery bags at the store, use reusable paper ones or totes.

tip 3: Take cold showers! This is coming from a person who takes around an hour in the shower and I realized that taking cold showers definitely speeds up time and also has many health benefits. Also, turn off the water when shaving or applying shampoo to cut back even more on water.

tip 4: This might not be as simple to switch to but might help lots. I saw a video about a women who turned her house into a damn green house because of all of the plants she had and it inspired a lot of people to do the same so maybe instead of going to grocery stores, we can grow the food in our own homes! It would cut down of plastics like the containers they come in and you can even grow your own herbs and spices!

tip 5: If you want to get really involved and you are in the right area like Florida or Cali, you can volunteer to help clean the ocean or pick up trash on beaches and if you are not in those areas, you can pick up litter or garbage you find on the ground

tip 6: Buy and use things from organizations that help with the environment. For example, the search engine Ecosia. which plants trees when you use it to help with deforestation!

tip 7: For some people it might be hard but going vegan is a great idea. It does a lot of great things for not only your health but the environment, like for example. Most of the wheat we grow (75% I believe) goes to feeding cows, which also there is a large amount of cows for our dairy that produce most of the green house gases due to them releasing a great amount of methane.

those are all of the tips I can think about even though I'm sure there are so many more!

  2. hey I just wanted to let you know that even if you dont use the plastic straws given to you at a restaurant, they are still required to throw them out. Make sure to tell your waiter if you don't want straws!

  3. Thank you so much for mentioning animal agriculture being a primary offender of climate change..its crazy how attached humans are to our food but vegan is so easy I promise! Plus you will look and feel healthier! Watch cowspiracy for environmental reasons, forks over knives/what the health for health reasons, and earthlings for our precious animals๐Ÿ’• and remember that the dairy is just as cruel and harmful as meat ๐Ÿฎ๐ŸŒณ

  4. Tip:
We donโ€™t need straws. Even metals ones arenโ€™t good. Some are even found in the ocean, and to be able to make a metal straw in the factory it pollutes the air. Please donโ€™t use straws at all ๐Ÿ™‚ we donโ€™t need them.

  5. When you said โ€œI donโ€™t want to die by heatโ€ or something like that, yesterday in London (I live in England) the weather for cast was 39 degrees and thatโ€™s the hottest England has ever been also there was no sign of sun IT WAS FRIKING THUNDERING THEN A HEET WAVE CAME

  6. Btw shein is fast fashion and by selling these they are doing a great thing but thats ptobablly not theyre intention the intention is to make peoplle talk about them snd say how good they are
Even the cup says ''shein'' in big text its just a way of marketing. Peoplle are gonna see someone drinking out of a reussblle shein cup and are gonna buy theyre shitty bad quality fast fashion clothes. Its greenwashing. Its a way of marketing. Even if its theyre way of trying to be better they should firstly at least try to mske the clothes ethical

  7. After watching this video I convinced my parents to get a Brita because we're always buying plastic bottles. It's amazing! Thank you so much

  8. Eco tip:
Just consume less in general. And if you want to buy something think about it more than once if you'll really need it.
Invest in long-lasting things that are cheaper in the long run and better for the environment.

Honestly, it feels good not being clustered in things that accumulated through impuls buying. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Share your eco-friendly tip: I ALWAYS recycle and use medals cuz u know save the turtles ๐Ÿ˜‚ but srsly it's important

  10. I cut up all my plastic straws and turned them in to art

My mom grounded me for a week

It was worth it tho ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Here is a small tip! Instead of using google or whatever, switch to Ecosia. For every 45 searches you planet one tree in the wild.

  12. I am so happy there are more people who are starting to care.not everyone understands this is a serious matter.but if more people make video's and share the message we can make a difference!

  14. All lot of the elderly think this is all bs because people come across as โ€œCRAZY AGRESSIVE HIPSTERS VEGANSโ€ ( btw I love vegans ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป) but itโ€™s just how we come across but if we change our attitude weโ€™ll change our planet!!

  15. Going vegan isnโ€™t great for your body, so you could go vegan a few times a week or something like that but it is very difficult to go vegan and do it right (at least in a way that is good for your body). Iโ€™m iron diffident so it hits close to home just how bad it is to go vegan without doing it the right way. Not having enough iron can be very difficult so if you do go vegan properly research and make sure 100% that you are still getting all the nutrients you need. But if you have children or babies donโ€™t make them vegan (there was a baby that almost died because itโ€™s parents made it vegan). Itโ€™s amazing what you are trying to do but if you are going to do it be safe about it! Just to clarify Iโ€™m not saying donโ€™t go vegan Iโ€™m just saying you have to be careful and do what is right for your body and if you notice something off when you start go to a doctor or a professional. Letโ€™s save the planet and be safe at the same time!!๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฟ

  16. I really appreciate you putting this out. Itโ€™s such a scary thing. Iโ€™m 19 and want to have kids, a good job, a FUTURE, and I probably wonโ€™t due to our climate crisis. Itโ€™s horrifying and I want more people to act on it and help our planet live and not die.

  17. Go to McDonalds, ask for the smallest drink, pass on plastic, environment-destroying lids and straws.

  18. I have a question when u recycle a plastic water bottle is that bad bc plastic water bottles r bad so why not just recycle them but continue to buy just recycle

  19. I have a water filter installed in my sink so I havenโ€™t been even using plastic water bottles basically my whole life ๐Ÿ˜‚

  20. Did y'all hear the story of that lady who got stabbed in the eye with a metal straw ? Those things are dangerous

  21. I live in the Netherlands and here we actually have drinkable tapwater, so i don't have to buy water bottles cx

  22. Totally agree with all this BUT dont let your parent tell you it's this generation fault THIS generation is the one making the change using metal staws
