Two arrested for animal cruelty in Mitchell, authorities seize 31 cats


TWO PEOPLE IN MITCHELL ARE FACING ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES AFTER POLICE SAY THEY FOUND MORE THAN 30 CATS LIVING IN GARBAGE AND FECES. POLICE SAY AT LEAST ONE CAT HAS BEEN FOUND DEAD — OFFICERS BELIEVE MORE CATS MAY BE HIDING IN THE WALLS. POLICE ARRESTED BRANDY SMITH AND HER SON MICHAEL SMITH ON TEN COUNTS OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. OFFICERS SAY BRANDY WAS RUNNING THE FACEBOOK SITE “HEART AND SOUL KITTY SANCTUARY” WHERE SHE ASKED FOR MONEY TO CARE FOR ELDERLY, DISABLED AND ABUSED CATS. INVESTIGATORS SAY MORE CHARGES ARE POSSIBLE.
