TOWNS IN SCHUYLER COUNTY OPT OUT OF HUMANE SOCIETY SERVICES

GOOD EVENING AND THANK YOU FOR JOINING US FOR 18 NEWS AT 11. SOME SUDDEN CHANGES ARE COMING TO HOW DOGS ARE SHELTERED AND CARED FOR IN SCHUYLER COUNTY. THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF SCHULER COUNTY SAYS, SEVERAL TOWNS IN THE COUNTY WILL BE OPTING OUT OF THEIR SERVICES. IN A STATEMENT, IT SAYS THE TOWNS OF CATHERINE, MONTOUR, DIX, HECTOR, READING, AND TYRONE WILL CONTRACT ANIMAL-CONTROL SERVICES WITH AN ORGANIZATION FROM OUTSIDE THE COUNTY. SCHUYLER COUNTY LEGISLATOR MICHAEL LAUSELL CONFIRMS TO 18 NEWSOF THE CHANGE. HE ALSO SAYS THIS MEANS THE COUNTY WOULD NEED TO ELIMINATE ITS ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICE. THE STATEMENT DOES NOT EXPLAIN WHY THE TOWNS HAVE OPTED OUT. WE WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THIS STORY AND BRING YOU THE LATEST DETAILS ON AIR AND ONLINE.
