“MOTHER’S BEACH” GOES TO THE DOGS… AS MAN AND MAN’S BEST FRIEND… SHOW OFF THEIR STUFF IN THE “STRUT YOUR MUTT WALK.” IT’S THE 20-TH YEAR THE EVENT HAS BENEFITED “THE ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY.” THE GROUP SPENDS MORE THAN 150- THOUSAND DOLLARS áEVERY YEARá ON MEDICAL CARE FOR HOMELESS, AGING OR SICK ANIMALS. THEY THEN HELP THEM GET READY FOR ADOPTION. ORGANIZERS SAY THE WALK HAS GROWN OVER ITS 20 YEARS… BUT IT’S FOR A DIFFICULT REASON. “It’s grown out of necessity. The number of animals we see every year, you know with the recent economic downturn, the number of animals we’re seeing that aren’t getting the veterinary care they need. That have illnesses that aren’t being addressed at home. those animals are coming to us with immediate needs.” THE PUPS WENT ON A TWO-MILE WALK, PLAYED GAMES, AND EVEN SEARCHED FOR TREATS, ALL FOR THE DOGS BEING TREATED. AND ONCE THOSE ANIMALS ARE GIVEN A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH … THEY’LL BE READY TO BE ADOPTED.
