SITW Team Coverage: Weather delays festival opening

MAKE SURE TO TURN ON THE ALERTS AS WELL. STEPHANIE: WE WANT TO GET TO SOMETHING IN THE WATER IN VIRGINIA BEACH. WHAT IS GOING ON WHERE YOU ARE? I JUST HAD AN INTERVIEW WITH DAVE HANSEN. HE SAYS IT MIGHT BE UNTIL 8:00 BEFORE THE PRESIDENT GETS UP HERE. LOOK AT THAT NIGHT AND WAS INSTRUCTED THEY DOES. HE ALSO SAID THEY WOULD BE PLAYING UNTIL 1:00 A.M.. THE DAVE MATTHEWS BENT AND PHARRELL — BAND AND P HARRELL AND FRIENDS. THERE IS A PARTNERSHIP WITH WHAT IS GOING ON HERE. THAT IS WHAT WILL MAKE IT SUCCEED. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS YEAR AND LAST YEAR? WE HAVE A PARTNERSHIP WITH ONE OF OUR OWN. A VERY FAMOUS ONE OF OUR OWN WHO BRINGS A GREAT GROUP OF MUSICIANS AND ARTISTS AND SPEAKERS AND HAS COMMITTED HIS LAST SIX MONTHS. ARE WE COMMITTED TO AT LEAST FIVE YEARS OF THIS? SO FAR, IT IS GOING SWIMMINGLY. THEY ARE VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. THIS IS SUCCESSFUL. THEY ARE LOOKING TO HAVE A FIVE-YEAR DEAL WITH PHARRELL TO HAVE THIS TAKE OVER WHAT WAS COLLEGE BEACH WE CAN. THERE WAS A LOT OF GOOD CHEER. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO. THEY HAVE OPENED UP THE CONVENTION CENTER. WE HAVE THE BASKETBALL COURT. WE HAVE EVERYTHING ALL UP AND DOWN THE BOARDWALK. THAT IS THE WAY IT GOES SOMETIMES. THIS WEATHER HAS BEEN A BIT OF A DOWNER. MAKING IT WORK, IT WILL BE A GREAT WEEKEND. THAT IS THE LATEST HERE ON THE BOARDWALK, HERE AT WATERMAN’S. SOMETHING IN THE WATER. BACK TO YOU GUYS. TOM: THE LOCAL FESTIVAL ORGANIZERS ARE TRYING TO KEEP EVERYBODY UPDATED WITH SCHEDULE CHANGES. IT LOOKS LIKE THE WEATHER IS CLEARING UP. WHAT ARE THE CHANGES TO THE SCHEDULE? DEFINITELY A LOT NICER THAN EARLIER. THE SUN HAS BEEN OUT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. THE FIRST STORM HIT AROUND 1:00 P.M. EVERYBODY CLEARED OFF THE BEACH. THEY CLEARED UP ON THE SIDEWALKS. THE SUN CAME OUT IN OUR EARLIER. ORGANIZERS SENT OUT AN UPDATE THROUGH THE APP. ERIN SAYS THE STORMS ARE GOING FAST BUT THEY ARE STRONG WITH A LOT OF ELECTRICITY. SHE IS URGING THEM TO TRACK ALERTS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA. AS FAR AS THE APPS, BEST OF THE WORKERS ARE TRYING TO SEE HOW THEY CAN ARRANGE THAT. THE 4:00-7:00 P.M. WINDOW IS NOW LOOKING GREAT. THERE’S A LOT OF WIND AND LIGHTNING. THAT IS OUR BIG CONCERN. WE DON’T WANT TO LEAVE PEOPLE OUT ON THE SAND. THEY ARE FIGURING THAT OUT RIGHT NOW. THEY ARE GOING TO BE CONSULTING THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WAKEFIELD. THEY HAVE BEEN TRYING TO HAVE THE MOST UP-TO-DATE THINGS FOR YOU GUYS HERE. IF YOU NEED HELP, THERE IS A TEMPORARY HOSPITAL DOWN ON H STREET. IF YOU NEED HELP, THAT IS WHERE

  1. So now this stupid festival will be violating noise ordnances until 1am? This event is a massive middle finger to every VAB resident. Every politician who forced this crap needs to be voted out of office. What a pandering, stupid mess.
