40 CATS SAVED IN SARPY COUNTY. THE ANIMAL RESCUE THEY LIVE AT…WAS IN DANGER OF CLOSING. BUT TODAY THE COUNTY BOARD VOTED TO KEEP IT OPEN. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S NICOLE GOODRICH HAD A LOOK INSIDE TODAY…AND IS LIVE WITH THE STORY. THE HAS RUN PAWS R US ANMIAL WITH THAT ZONING …SHE’S ONLY ALLOWED TO KEEP 4 CATS ON HER NEARLY 30 ACRES. SO SHE APPLIED FOR A SPECIAL USE PERMIT SO SHE CAN KEEP HER NON PROFIT OPEN…JUST THIS AFTERNOON THE BOARD APPROVED IT. (Betsy Newman // In side here is a bedroom with a sauna and they love to get the warmth of the sauna.) WITH LUXURIES SOME DON’T EVEN HAVE IN THEIR OWN HOMES…PAWS R US SHELTER IS NOTHING SHORT OF A PET IS THE UNLIKELY WOMAN BEHIND IT ALL.(Betsy Newman // I was a city girl living in Millard and all my life just really allergic to anything that walked or had fur or anything like that so I couldn’t really NOW, THAT’S HOW SHE SPENDS ALL OF HER DAYS… GETTING UP AT 1 IN THE MORNING TO ATTEND TO THE FIVE BARNS ON HER RURAL SARPY COUNTY PROPERTY …AND TAKE CARE OF THE NEARLY 40 CATS THAT LIVE THERE.(Betsy Newman // bobby was found in blair, the people just took off without him. Just left home and said bobby, good bye.) THAT MAY SOUND EVERY ONE.(Betsy Newman // right honey, muah.) WITH SO MANY PLACES TO CURL UP AND HIDE…IT CAN ACTUALLY BE HARD MOST HAVE NO INTEREST IN PEOPLEew.EXCEPT BETSY.(Betsy Newman // These are cats that because of health concerns, of course this is a no kill shelter ) SO WHILE SHE DOES ADOPT OUT THE FRIENDLY HEALTHY FELINES WITH THE HELP OF THE NEBRASKA HUMANE SOCIETY… BETSY’S BARNS ARE OFTEN THE LAST STOP FOR CATS WITH HEALTH OR BEHAVIOURAL PROBLEMS. AND SHE WOULDN’T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY.(Betsy Newman // I will not let these animals down, because most of their lives, that’s what has happened to them.) THE SARPY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS APPROVED THE SPCIAL USE PERMIT FOR PAWS R US ANIMAL SHELTER UNANIMOUSLY. SO BETSY WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE OPERATING. AS PART OF HER ANIMAL SHELTER LICENSE WITH THE NEBRASKA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, SHE IS SUBJECT TO YEARLY INSPECTIONS. SO FAR SHE’S ISSUES. REPORTING LIVE NICOLE GOODRICH KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN.
