I’ve become more aware
over time that the superhero designer who
comes in and shows the interface or the
wireframes and saves the day, those are quick wins.
You feel good for a little bit, but if nobody understands
the information architecture, then, as it gets into the
hands of designers and developers, it’s going to
be changed and changed and changed until some
of the initial strengths are gone. So, I’ve kind of
learned, if you want to make a lasting impact in
an organization, change the people. Help them
to understand, because they will live a lot longer
than your specific ideas for a website or software
product. So there’s a lot of good we can do in the
environments in which we practice through education,
by setting a good example.
