Nola Carter honored as All-Star Athlete


HERE IS THIS WEEK’S VY STAR ALL-STAR ATHLETES.>>I WANT EVERYBODY TO KNOW THAT THE CAPTAIN OF THE BOWLING TEAM. HOW DOES THAT COME ABOUT?>>WELL, MY PUBLIC COACH IS OUR BOWLING COACH, TOO, AND BASICALLY SAW THE BASKETBALL PLAYERS BOWL AND I JUST HAPPENED TO BE ONE OF THE BEST BOWLERS HE HAD SO–>>HAVE YOU ALWAYS BOWLED?>>NO, NINTH GRADE I USED TO– MY HIGHEST WAS PROBABLY ABOUT A 45. [LAUGHTER]>>AND LIKE WHEN I GOT BETTER, I PRACTICED AND WHEN I GOT BACK, 150, 196 SO I JUST GOT REALLY GOOD AT IT.>>IT’S FABULOUS THAT YOU’RE ABLE TO DO ALL OF THOSE THINGS AND MAINTAIN THIS GPA. WAS THE GPA IMPORTANT TO YOU OR DID IT JUST COME ALONG WITH THE LEARNING AND STUDYING THAT YOU NORMALLY WOULD DO?>>WELL, I’M A STUDENT ATHLETE AND STUDENT COMES FIRST SO I KNOW I ALWAYS HAVE TO STEADY, HAVE MY BOOKS TOGETHER. AND MY MOM IS A TEACHER SO I REALLY HAD NO CHOICE. AND OTHER THAN THAT, I MEAN, I KNOW, I KNOW IF I WERE TO GET A CAREER ENDING INJURY I HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING TO FALL BACK ON AND THOSE ARE MY DREAMS. SO THAT WOULDN’T BE A PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE GRADES I HAVE. EVEN IF I DIDN’T WANT TO PLAY BASKETBALL, WHICH I AM, OR EVEN IF I WERE TO GET HURT OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. BEING ABLE TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A BACKUP PLAN KIND OF, THAT’S–>>YOU’RE OUR ALL-STAR ATHLETE FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS AND ACADEMICS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE PRESENTED ON THIS DAY AND SIGNED
