Meek Mill Pleads Guilty To Old Gun Charge, Won’t Serve Prison Time

CBS-3 AT NOON CASE FINALLY CLOSED AFTER A MORE THAN TEN YEAR FIGHT RAPPER MOLK MILL’S LEGAL BATTLE HAS COME TO AN END. GOOD AFTERNOON, I’M JIM DONOVAN. I’M JANELLE BURRELL, THIS MORNING STRUCK DEAL WITH PROSECUTORS AND AS A RESULT HE WILL NOT SERVE ANY MORE TIME IN PRISON. “EYEWITNESS NEWS” REPORTER JOE HOLDEN WAS IN COURT THIS MORNING, AND HE’S JOINING US LIVE ON HOW THIS CASE WAS RESOLVED. JOE? IN MORNING SIMILAR TO WHAT HAPPENED, ROBERT MEEK MILL WILLIAMS ENTERING GUILTY PLEA TO SINGLE COUNT OF POSSESSION AFTER FIREARM, THAT’S A FIRST DEGREE MISDEMEANOR CHARGE. THE JUDGE ANNOUNCED AMONG OTHER THINGS, THERE WOULD BE KNOW FURTHER PUNISHMENT, AND MEEK MILL WALKED OUT OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE CENTER TO PRETTY SIGNIFICANTLY SIZED CROWD. MEEK FREE. I’M NOT ON PROBATION NO MORE, I DON’T HAVE TO GO TO COURT NO MORE. THANK YOU ALL, I APPRECIATE THAT A LOT. (CHEER). IN 11TH FLOOR COURTROOM HE THANKED JUDGE LEON TUCKER IMMEDIATELY AFTER WHY THE CLOSED THE CASE, ALL OTHER CHARGES INCLUDING DRUG POSSESSION COUNTS WERE DROPPED AND THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE NEGOTIATED THE DEAL WITH THE RAPPER, AND ENTERTAINER AND INSTEAD IN COURT SAID HE HAD NO PRIOR CRIMINAL RECORD. HE’S BEEN ABLE TO SUSTAIN EMPLOYMENT SOMETIME IT HAS BEEN TOUGH WHILE ON PROBATION. MEEK MILL SPENT DECADE ON PROBATION, UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF JUDGE GENECE BRINKLEY, IN NOVEMBER, 2017, BRINKLY ORDERED MEEK MILL TO STATE PRISON FOR TECHNICAL VIOLATIONS OF HIS PAROLE. THAT SET OFF FIRE STORM OF PROTESTS, FOR THE REFORM OF THE PROBATION AND PAROLE SYSTEM IN PENNSYLVANIA. BRINKLY WAS EVENTUALLY REMOVED FROM THE CASE, AND MEEK MILL’S LAWYERS TODAY BLASTED BRINKLY, CALLING HER A JUDGE RUN AMUCK, PRESIDING OVER CASE MIRED IN CORRUPTION, ALSO, THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY JUST WRAPPED UP A PRESS CONFERENCE, AS WELL. ON VACATION WITHOUT ASKING SOMEONE’S PERMISSION, NEVER ABLE TO LEVER THE CITY WITHOUT ASKING PERMISSION, THIS IS THE FIRST DAY OF HIS LIFE, 32 YEARS OLD, BEGINNING A LIFE. THIS IS A CASE AS I’M SURE YOU ALL CAN UNDERSTAND, FROM THE PROCEEDINGS TODAY, THAT WAS NOT EXONERATION, IT WAS NOT AN EXAMPLE OF SOMEONE WHO HAS COMPLETELY INNOCENT, BUT IT WAS IN MY VIEW AN EXAMPLE OF EXCESSIVE PUNISHMENT, EXCESSIVE SUPERVISION, IN TERMS OF PAROLE, AND I THINK IT WAS ALSO AN EXAMPLE OF SOME UNFAIR PROCEDURES, AND SOME QUESTIONABLE INTEGRITY. WELL JUDGE GENECE BRINKLEY HAS NOT RESPONDS TODAY REQUESTS FOR COMMENT. ACCORDING TO MEEK MILL’S PUBLICIST, HE WAS HEADED TO NEW YORK AFTER LEAVING THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE CENTER FOR SOME PERSONAL BUSINESS, AND THEN HE WILL BE IN CHICAGO LATER THIS WEEK, TO START HIS TOUR LEGENDARY NIGHT. LIVE OUTSIDE THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE IN CENTER

  1. This is why Philly has a gun violence problem, some rapper gets arrested for carrying a gun illegally and the courts just let him walk after he played their asses for 12 years with delays and continuances. This is why Philly has a gun problem, no laws and the judges won't enforce the laws on the books.
