IMPACT | Villager gets compensation after elephant menace | Sanju reports for IndiaUnheard

A few months ago we had made a video through which we had reported from Ambrabedo village in the Mandro block of district Sahebganj, Jharkhand on the severe damage and loss of property a wild elephant’s rampage had caused to Gangu Paharia’s household here in the Kerua council After making that video, I had surveyed local villagers on the issue and initiated a dialogue with communities in the region. Upon the discussing the issue with the villagers, we submitted an application for compensation for Gangu Paharia and his family at the office of the District Forest Officer (DFO) of the Forest Division in district Sahebganj In the following days, we visited the DFO’s office along with a few villagers to apprise the DFO of Gangu’s situation in person. Today, after a period of three months, Gangu Paharia has indeed received compensation from the DFO’s office. It is my humble appeal to all our viewers to contact Mr. K. K. Tiwari, DFO – Forest Division, district Sahebganj on the aforementioned mobile number and convey a vote of gratitude for the good work he has done. Reporting from district Sahebganj, Jharkhand this is Sanju Malto for India Unheard.
