How to Prepare for Suffering

– [Paul Tripp] We trouble our trouble by
unrealistic expectations of life. If you’re going to be prepared for the
suffering that will surely come, you better have a robust
theology of the fall. Because if you don’t have a robust
theology of the fall in the Garden of Eden and the results on everything about the
environment in which we live, you will not be prepared. I love the way that Paul talks
about this in Romans 8. He says, “The whole world is groaning,
waiting for redemption.” You live in a groaning world. You groan when you’re in pain. You groan when you’re in distress. You groan when you need help. You groan when you long
for something better. The world you live in groans. It’s not just us that are
waiting for redemption. This world, the environment in which we
live, is crying out for redemption. And so you live in a world where you can
expect hardship, you can expect difficulty, you can expect pain,
you can expect sorrow. Because this world is dramatically broken,
not functioning the way God intended. And see, if you don’t embrace that
theology, you leave yourself with unrealistic expectations,
here’s a second thing, naive to the temptations that will come,
because you’re expecting things to be way different than they’re ever going to be. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve
counseled, how many people have approached me, how many people have talked
to me who are shocked at the fact that suffering has entered their door,
surprised at the things that they’re facing.

  1. Biblical based theology, always soul satisfying!
" For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs.."Romans 8:22.
    The hope of the resurrection we have in Christ Jesus;
" For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven….we shall not be found naked." 2 Corinthians 5:1-3✝️

  2. This is the best part!!🙃
" For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to his glorious body, according to the working by which he is able even to subdue all things to himself."Philippians 3:20-21✔️
This world is not our home, we are passing through, heaven is our home, we are citizens of heaven!😇

  3. 1 Peter 4:12-13 ESV
"Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed."

  4. If I am a Christian..I will always be 'in depression' yet the world tells me 'strive, thrive..capitalistic'. How can God keep preaching His messages oblivion to the claws World dug deep into our flesh. Even if God's doctrine is true, ignoring what the world is doing – is cruelty as well. To the highest degree.

How can God tell me about doctrines and ignore I need money for food. How can God say He is more precious than food. Has God actually starved? And I dont mean only 40 days. Did he pay tax? I cant get tax money out of a fish's mouth, the uncountable times Ive tried.
