Early Neurological Stimulation with Puppies – Creating Super Puppies

I'm here with my litter of 12 week old Mike and shepherds and we're going to continue with our neurological stimulation that we do early on during the first third day to the sixteenth day today is day 12 right here we've got beautiful young male do the tactile stimulation first we're three to five seconds we're gonna rub between the toes then for three to five seconds we hold the head up three to five cycles we hold them upside down and three to five seconds to go under there then down here we're going to do the thermal test this is a damp rag that's been put in the fridge for about 10 minutes we'll set them on that for three to five seconds if they crawl off before that time that's okay that's the first Jeff second that we got here creeping me the tactile test first the head up four five three to five seconds sit down could be the first sentence and they're bad for three to five seconds yeah I smell now it's been shown that there are a number of benefits to this I'm gonna put them under here for the fact I'll just and that's puppey here a little mail now if you watched the first video I did when they were 5 days old or so when I did this test you'll see a difference how the puppies are acting from that and that's because after over a week of doing this they've gotten used to this type of stress it's been shown there are numerous benefits later on in life from doing this the dogs are stronger cardiovascularly they a strawberry adrenal glands less stressed by a things in their environment and when tested and amazed compared to their non stimulated litter mates they were found to be dominant over them in those situations and much less rattled by being stressed and then I'll have information regarding that is the video description if you want to learn more again this was done by the US military their bio sensor program which was later called the Superdog program I've done it for probably a dozen years or so and I've seen nothing but positive results regarding it but don't take my word for it I'm just some guy on YouTube do your research there we go this is the little guy of the litter he's the first one down as I slowly over you see his eye scammer they open right now perfect classic kids the little girl though the way this works is it's introducing these puppies to stimulation and stress that they wouldn't normally see this early in life which is stimulating new neural pathways to be built within their brain and formed earlier than would be expected and again this is a lasting positive effects of them and you can even see if you look at them now compared to when I film this about a week or so back with them that they really handle this a lot better they're a lot less stressed by it again there's a certain window between the third and sixteenth day that is a really good time to do this here's another little little male looks like his eyes are starting to open up a little bit too there I had some asking which was the puppy I said let me find him when I shot him so this is that little puppy that I saved when they were being born I had people asking that which one he was this is him again it's a really nice little there I'm very happy chances are f2 generation alike in Shepherds again the breed is still in development this isn't the finished product news the foundation of reading to give they're very happy wasn't so far that's all I hope you enjoyed it there'll be plenty more updates like subscribe and share

  1. !!! YES, I KNOW I SAID 12 WEEKS INSTEAD OF 12 DAY OLD PUPPIES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO (D'OH!).

For the best start in life possible, among other things such as quality diet and early socialization, I use the Early Neurological Stimulation Program when raising our puppies, as research shows there are many benefits.

Here is the video of the litter doing this at 5 days old…

    Methods of Stimulation

The U.S. Military program called "Bio Sensor" was developed and later, it became known to the public as the "Super Dog" Program. Based on years of research, the military learned that early neurological stimulation exercises could have important and lasting effects. Their studies confirmed that there are specific time periods early in life when neurological stimulation has optimum results. The first period involves a window of time that begins at the third day of life and lasts until the sixteenth day. It is believed that because this interval of time is a period of rapid neurological growth and development, and therefore is of great importance to the individual.

The "Bio Sensor" program was also concerned with early neurological stimulation in order to give the dog a superior advantage. Its development utilized five exercises which were designed to stimulate the neurological system. Each workout involved handling puppies once each day. The workouts required handling them one at a time while performing a series of five exercises. Listed in order of preference the handler starts with one pup and stimulates it using each of the five exercises. The handler completes the series from beginning to end before starting with the next pup. The handling of each pup once per day involves the following exercises:

    1. Tactile stimulation

Holding the pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates (tickles) the pup between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip. It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle. Time of stimulation 3 – 5 seconds.

    2. Head held erect

Using both hands, the pup is held perpendicular to the ground, (straight up), so that its head is directly above its tail. This is an upwards position. Time of stimulation 3 – 5 seconds.

    3. Head pointed down

Holding the pup firmly with both hands the head is reversed and is pointed downward so that it is pointing towards the ground. Time of stimulation 3 – 5 seconds.

    4. Supine position

Hold the pup so that its back is resting in the palm of both hands with its muzzle facing the ceiling. The pup while on its back is allowed to sleep struggle. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.

    5. Thermal stimulation

Use a damp towel that has been cooled in a refrigerator for at least five minutes. Place the pup on the towel, feet down. Do not restrain it from moving. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.

These five exercises will produce neurological stimulations, none of which naturally occur during this early period of life. Experience shows that sometimes pups will resist these exercises, others will appear unconcerned. In either case a caution is offered to those who plan to use them. Do not repeat them more than once per day and do not extend the time beyond that recommended for each exercise. Over stimulation of the neurological system can have adverse and detrimental results. These exercises impact the neurological system by kicking it into action earlier than would be normally expected. The result being an increased capacity that later will help to make the difference in its performance. Those who play with their pups and routinely handle them should continue to do so because the neurological exercises are not substitutions for routine handling, play socialization or bonding.

    Benefits of Stimulation

Five benefits have been observed in canines that were exposed to the Bio Sensor stimulation exercises. The benefits noted were:

    • Improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate)

    • Stronger heart beats

    • Stronger adrenal glands

    • More tolerance to stress and

    • Greater resistance to disease.

In tests of learning, stimulated pups were found to be more active and were more exploratory than their non- stimulated littermates over which they were dominant in competitive situations. Secondary effects were also noted regarding test performance. In simple problem solving tests using detours in a maze, the non-stimulated pups became extremely aroused, wined a great deal, and made many errors. Their stimulated littermates were less disturbed or upset by test conditions and when comparisons were made, the stimulated littermates were more calm in the test environment, made fewer errors and gave only an occasional distress when stressed.

  2. Never heard of these neurological stimulations for puppies.. so, very interesting stuff. Thanks for the description of a more detailed analysis.

  3. They don't seem to mind so much. Soon when you put them on the cold towel they're going to crawl right off.

  4. My Rottweiler female pup was about the size of the biggest male pup at 7.5 wks old. The size of your 12-day old pups is just astonishing.

  5. Hey good video i lost my litter of nine last week tuesday some had born still but i save them by draining them of fluids like i saw in your new born video but i went to work and came home and saw 2 left i bottle fed them and they died two days later

  6. Being honest, out in public I’d probably look at you and think, “check that dude out he looks intense”. But in all your videos you’re so chill. Funny how that works.

  7. 'ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS Pups'!!!!😍😊
THANK YOU ,for sharing your training method !!!!

  8. I amazed at how well these pups growing and how content they are while being handled.
I read through everything I could find on the U.S. Army super dog program and if all the stats are correct these are going to be so amazing dogs.

    👍 🇺🇲

  9. good morning wishing you fantastic tuesday Chadde
