Contractor finds purple heart in rubble of demolished house


REPORTER: THE HOUSE THAT USED TO STAND HERE WAS FULL OF THINGS INCLUDING BOOKS. THAT IS NOTHING COMPARED TO WHAT WAS FOUND DURING DEMOLITION.>>WE FIND ALL KINDS OF NEAT STUFF.>>ON THIS JOB, A BOX FELL FROM THE ATTIC IT CAUGHT HIS ATTENTION HE STOPPED THE DEMOLITION AND LOOKED INSIDE. A PURPLE HEART. AWARDED TO THOSE WHO WERE KILLED OR WOUNDED IN COMBAT. THIS ONE HAS ALBERT WEAVER’S NAME ON IT.>>I’M GLAD IT DID NOT GET DAMAGED OR HEARD OR BROKEN UP OR ANY OF THAT AREA>>FAMILY WAS NOT FAR AWAY. SHORTLY AFTER INTERVIEW, HE LOCKED UP. HIS FATHER OWNED THE PROPERTY FOR 50 YEARS. THE PURPLE HEART BELONGED TO HIS UNCLE.>>GOOD INTENSE. IT IS AMAZING THAT HE FOUND IT OUT OF ALL OF HIS STUFF. THAT IS THE AMAZING PART RIGHT THERE. IT IS GOING TO MEAN A LOT.>>I HAVE NEVER COME ACROSS ONE OF THEM AND I DID NOT REALLY WANT TO SEE IT IN A LANDFILL.
