We are here with living legend Ciara. How are you? Amazing. How are you? I’m good, I’m good. And how are you? How are you doing little man? You good? Good. Now, you are performing tonight “Thinkin Bout You.” What can we look forward to with this performance? I’m excited. You know, tonight I want it to be about good feeling. I want it to be about good energy and it’s going to be a lot of dancing. More than anything, I just want there to be good feels in the room. You know, for people to feel the warmth of the record, you know, and to want to sing along and have a good time. That’s wonderful. You know, we have Mariah Carey here tonight presenting with having the Icon Award. What is your favorite Mariah Carey song? My favorite Mariah Carey song? Oh my gosh. Oh! (singing) Yo, New York in the house. I s Brooklyn in the house? The remix to sweet fantasy or “Fantasy.” “Fantasy,” yes. That song was a smash and feel good. Yo, that’s a real throwback. And I heard recently that you had, oh, we playing tug of war right now. He’s so silly. So recently, you had lunch with
Oprah for the Empowerment Awards. What was that like? You know, that was an incredible night, an incredible afternoon, sorry. We were there to honor the young, talented, I mean the future leaders of our world and it was specifically to people of color and you know the cool thing is that what you realize about being in that room is that where you come from in life doesn’t determine how far you’ll go. The color of your skin does not limit you from who you can be and want to be in life and that was a very real thing that we talked about that evening, or that afternoon and it was cool to see Oprah get honored as well. As we know, she’s a very accomplished woman, one that’s inspired a lot of us women. I can say that for myself she’s by far one of the best entrepreneurs, you know, and to ever do what she’s done, especially as a woman. So you know it was really cool to be in that room and to feel that energy, but also to shine the light on the young, future leaders of our world. Those young kids were so proud. They were also getting scholarships. They were surprised about it that day. They didn’t know that was happening and they got Mac computers and all that good stuff and it was really about setting them up for success, but also about patting them on the back, telling them they’re doing a great job and they can be anything they want to be if they believe in themselves. So it was an incredible afternoon. Thank you so much. I’m looking forward to seeing your performance. Yes, and also my new album Beauty Marks comes out May 10th. It’s an exciting album for me. I think that it’s one of the best ones that I’ve done. Really proud of it. Macklemore’s joined me, Kelly Rowland’s joined me, Teknco, and also my girl Skylar Grey co-produced the title track “Beauty Marks” and we also wrote it together, so I’m excited about it. So we’re jumping all around with the sounds. A lot of, you know, there’s something on there for everyone. There’s definitely something on there for every mood. You know, I don’t slow it down too much on this album. I want to kind of keep a tempo going but there’s something on there for every mood and everyone, so I’m excited. I’m ready for it. Thank you so much. This was a dream come true. Thank you so much. Yeah, thank you. Have a wonderful time.
