Celebrating National Reconciliation Week 2017: Matt

What I’m most proud of as an Indigenous
Australian is just seeing how far so many other Indigenous Australians are taking their
knowledges. So many people from really humble backgrounds
have taken their dance performance or their literature or their arts right up onto the
world stage and really influenced a lot of the ways first nation cultures around the
world see themselves. One of the exciting things that we’re working
on is the new museum project. We’re, over the next few years we’re doing
lots of consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and allowing
them to embed their perspectives in the way these objects are exhibited. So, there’s no shortage of really great
opportunities to use the arts and museums especially to really create a new sense of
how their nation sees itself and how we can move forward into the 21st century.
