Bill would shorten shelter time before animals adopted, euthanized


ALSO AT THE CAPITOL TODAY… A BILL THAT WOULD REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF TIME ANIMAL SHELTERS WOULD HAVE TO HOLD ONTO A STRAY BEFORE PLACING IT FOR ADOPTION. OR EUTHANIZING IT. SOME ANIMAL GROUPS ARE SPLIT ON WHETHER IT’S A GOOD IDEA… POLITICAL REPORTER JESSICA ARP HAS THE LATEST FROM THE STATE CAPITOL TONIGHT. THE MAIN AIM OF THE BILL IS TO MAKE CHANGES TO HOW LONG ANIMAL SHELTERS HAVE TO KEEP ANIMALS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN CRIMES… BUT IT ALSO SHORTENS THE AMOUNT OF TIME SHELTERS ARE REQUIRED TO KEEP A STRAY ANIMAL BEFORE THEY CAN PUT IT UP FOR ADOPTION.
