πŸ’ FD2 HONDA CIVIC TYPE R REVIEW – BEST FWD CAR IN THE WORLD?

[Applause] two dirty looks okay mr. dad hello there welcome to the monkey line internal thank you very much no I actually know you from previous because you're a very yummy patron I am indeed your platinum patron as well yeah I've got I've been around for a while you have your big support with a channel so massive massive a thank you about to know you brought down something which is pretty cool yeah my lovely 2008 Honda Civic type-r FD to the ft 2 type I was only sold in Japan this one I picked up with 33,000 miles I was originally actually looking at DC to type on JDM but couldn't find one that was you know good mileage from me and because it's meant to be my daily the drift king himself did actually say this is one of the best Honda's they ever made yeah yeah he is big fan of this car I mean obviously this excluding the Mugen RR which is another level really but as far as you know accessible Honda's and tie bars generally can go this is being proclaimed by him as one of the best effect by a lot of people as one of the most potentially made this car very similarly to the NSX so what people don't realize is the way that they've put the chassis together have a lot of adhesives and a lot of glues much how they made the NSX so it seems like a ridiculous amount of weight off of this car and I mean what the this car is the successor technically to the Integra line so the dc5 yeah the difference in curb weight between this and the dc5 is only sixty kilos which is crazy if you think cuz I mean this does even an appearance seems a lot bigger yeah exactly I mean I've compared this to a dc5 side-by-side and DC fires that build anything this has got four doors you know actual rear seats at Woking boot and it only weighs 60 kilos Morgan I've got to my mates in the backseat of this and they're both six foot four plus and we had plenty of room they did an hour and a half journey I have no issues so yeah it's definitely practical for what it is and then you know when you feel like having a bit of fun it's [Applause] out the factory what do these come with horsepower was claimed 220 220 horses so pretty much the same as every other k20a I have you at the diner it so do you want to see what it's making before start you know tweaking yeah but it feels like it's definitely over 200 it's got a lot of poke through this particular version of the car is a little bit pokey ER because of the final drive so DC v 2e p3 their final drive was a 4.7 8-3 I think something like that this has got a shorter five and six and the final drive on this is 5.0 65 something like that sorta wrote a short ratio better acceleration is it quite hard to sort of resist driving it hard I really is I I I could say I got this car to be a daily and I thought oh you know I'll be nice to happy I won't be on it too much to day not even two days three hours after picking up a car and I'm and what is this Rev to 8 and a half your ft2 isn't quite stopped doing 'through some of the mods yeah yeah so it's had a the previous owner of the car had a few things done to me nothing serious and so we've got a Mugen airbox this is not the the one off of the Mugen RR it's the step down from a it's like a kind of filter with just a bit more of a bit more space in the box so it does follow a little bit more Mugen radiator cap and oil cap and then carve them you can cover for the top of the engine their exhaust why's it came with a spoon and one back box that I have obviously put on as you heard coming in yeah and I also now have a toda test pipe on it as well I was out the other night in Mexico driving in and had a friend of mine record it and yeah when you hear it go past it does sound sound the absolute bollocks honestly [Applause] wheels and brakes all ovm them all factory wheels the wheels themselves are made by Anki and the sizing on these is 18 by 8 on an offset of 60 they're really nice wheels like if they've taken them off already know for what they are they're actually quite light and the toys these are re double O 2's bridge loans they factory believe so the factory spec but these are a new set that got put on the car before I bought it so yeah they're really good tires it was quite shocking I know a lot of the guys in Japan rate these tires you know to no end bodywork predominately stock yeah predominantly stock bodywork the only thing that's different about this is on the front of the car the lip down the front is a J's racing item I really like it I think and it makes it look really aggressive they actually do a full carbon bumper though with with karyn's and really nice under the trailer I really want to get though that's like a cup of grass yeah yeah and the rear spoilers all all stop yeah this is all stock really sort of unique shape isn't and that's what one of really attracted to George and I gave him one because it's a part of a bit of a sleep and no one really knows what these are about a ton of center wall keeps going the only thing that really gives this car away – the wing is the front lip if you didn't have that front lip off and the standard bumper is actually really round it looks almost identical to the hybrid yeah the fd1 when you were telling me this is actually the same chassis as the hybrid they assembled this as I was saying with the adhesive so that it made it so much light so the hybrid is weld it together this the exact same panels just two different production lines obviously a little bit heavier because you got right you've got weld instead of resin exactly quick look in the interior now first thing is it's super super clean obviously which is the only done what 30 at the moment 34 Oh something so it's very low oil using such nice condition yeah I got really really lucky with it yeah I know it just was gonna have any issues with I was gonna be the one putting in on the mileage so ya know I'm really really happy with the condition and if you don't mind me asking them what did you give for the car uh 18 585 it seems to be about the sort of price point for cars with this kind of mileage yes if you're looking for cars double the mileage you're looking closer to like the 14 to 13 grand range depending on where you looking from here I know talk did have a couple of really nice white examples up for sale recently both in champ white both completely stock I think but they both had 60,000 miles and there were up 14 and 16 respectively obviously I've been doing a bit of research on these I'm getting one for Georgie I'm not right in saying this free different interior colours I believe so this interior color which is red carpets red centers and the seats and the black externals there's another option where it's completely black interior black carpets black seats and then red carpets and I believe completely red seats and as is normal a normal thing with most Honda's anyway yeah we've had a good little chat about the car dance we take out for a little spin hello hello got there eventually down just realise what the arduous task of setting up all the cameras it yeah first thing I'm going to say is you can even though we're just driven around the car park it's a proper talk yeah it's very tired feeling it yeah you can really feel whether the chassis just feels very rigid yeah I think a lot of those to do with the four doors Cobb viously having a central beep hello go across the the middle of a car really helps stiffen it up but you make it make it solid I guess yeah you've got a 400-horsepower r32 GTR yep that's correct what's these sort of I mean it very difficult it's front-wheel drive four-wheel drive what was the differences do you do fines so the main the main difference I find between the two cars is well that obviously don't get me wrong four-wheel drive you've got a lot of traction this car doesn't feel like has any less traction and the styling really yeah it's just nice just because it's like it just feels like it's bolted on the road yeah we've already been driving it for five minutes everything done VTEC yet and I'm already sold yeah I could just feel the car just feels amazing it feels serious really you can tell that it means business this car is amazing it's good at it it results this mean living in a bow yet but you see what I mean about that final drive it makes the complete difference man it really and it doesn't really sort we don't really get to a point where it kind of stops giving no he just wants to keep going really impressing this Georgie if you watch you guys hold we're just going to do a little launch show you guys what she's all about such good noise downshift this job and I'm gonna take this go home different cars if if things like a drift car pokes and it's honest nice technique they know exactly it's made the audience it is February yeah it is Sundberg is 80 degrees today yeah which is in the UK big global warming I knew as soon as you came down our driveway I'd beard up yeah it centers really many I wouldn't say there's any frog which I call data badness I in stock factory and stock factory for I don't care as much they can hold on life to what this can do long time the way George and I are looking at is it's not only heard of daily it's reasonable I'm fueling stuff it is practical yeah it's also gonna hold its value I wonder so I've been prized oh yeah definitely the pearl I mean yeah to my knowledge think there's only two of them at the moment in the country and obviously as you've spoken to talk have got two more coming in you of course are looking at one that you're immediately you have a value they're very Liberty a exactly what about sort of long time plans I mean that obviously with a Cato and you got a lot of like butta see potential yeah do you think you'll leave it naturally aspirated sort keep it down longest or lines it is now I think I'm gonna keep it na I mean obviously boost it would be hilarious in I sure about to find out you know like this this thing would take off but I have the skyline flat you know and I don't get me wrong like I'm of turbo boosting it's hilarious this is kind of as if it's kind of an animal it is I draw exactly yeah I I didn't realize a naturally aspirated car could be as quick as this so I think I'm just gonna spend most of my time working on building the engine maybe some ITV it's got for a really high compression ratio a little bit more power but kind of leave the formula as is yeah exactly so I think just having an na would be really nice a really healthy to a DNA which is more than a cheaper one okay I'd be happy with that take a bit of weight off – right yeah it will disappear yeah [Applause] which swaps over now George getting a bit crazy I must say I mean to hear 10 out of 10 I haven't really given many cars 20 out of 10 is a score in Omni juice but hats off to Honda because they have created something pretty special yeah likewise you mentioned before Dan is a platinum patron at the end of this video you actually see Dan's name in the end of the other credits there are people like down I would honestly struggle to bring all this content to you it's a massive support I'm not you know I don't make a massive amount of money on YouTube so it's once a massive thanks to Dan and all the paintings that have supported me up until this point as always I hope you guys enjoyed this cheeky little video and we look forward to seeing you soon

  1. The front bumper its not a type R ones, typeR dont have foglight, instead it has vents to allow air to channel thru into the brake ducts

  2. Great car!

    Family Sports car
    Light weight (1200kg)
    High horsepower (225hp)
    Good cornering
    K20
    and last but not least

    VTEC

  3. I've owned a 2001 Integra Type R, a 1997 Civic Type R, and a 1996 Integra Type R sedan, and I would concur that the FD2 is the greatest FWD car ever made. Word to the owner though, coat the trunk jambs. Hondas always rust out quick in the trunk and hatch jambs.

  4. Wicked cars . Prices have come down a lot recently which is nice . You can pick a decent one up for 10 k now . Seriously tempted . It's the only honda I would replace my accord type r with .

  5. FD2R a car love by Asia Countries. There are plenty of FD2Rs out here. It never once bore anyone’s attention truly a lovely and fantastic car! Cheap on maintanence, consider a track car able to be used as a daily driving. Drove this car for 2 years and sadly had to sell this baby out. It was my worst time of my life but my wife was killing me. This car will never dissapoint you, once you’re in it you will never want to get out of it, mark my words this car is simply amazingly raw.

  6. Those fog light, should not be there… Reminds me of the conversions in my country, they never remove the fog lights…

  7. Ive always much prefered rear or all wheel drive but cars like this make me want an ff. Only one ive ever owned was an rsx, and even with 160hp it was a blast to hit vtec on backroads

  8. Just gotta find this running gear for my dc2 type R and i'll be happy. B18cr cam belt snapped so thats that

  9. the best fwd is the type r fd2r but a tad better would b the mugen rr fd2r wish australia would deliver one but they only accept the fk8. The only type r to be sold by dealer ship.

ek9, ep3,fn2r, fd2r, fk2 are all imported only. very sad.

  10. Nice that he hopped in that birch and didn't short shift like all the rest of the guys that review Honda's.

  11. Why didn't Honda stay with it's subtle design like this, not some hideous Gundam looking junk like the 2019 models….

  12. Much respect! In this day and age it's so good to see someone having shit loads of fun in a 220hp carπŸ‘ŠπŸ½

  13. I have owned and driven a FD2 Type R for 11 years! It is one bloody amazing car and I still cant get enough of it.

  14. All Honda had to do was give us a clean civic type r with a turbo. But instead they gave us a space ship from some ricers wet dream
